![]() ![]() Endowments A financial endowment is a transfer of money or property donated to an institution, usually with the stipulation that it be invested, and the principal remain intact for a defined time period. This allows for the donation to have a greater impact over a longer period of time than if it were spent all at once. The total value of an institution's investments is referred to as the institution's endowment. The Valle Crucis Community Park Endowment is devoted to the general support of the park which serves residents of Watauga, Avery, and Ashe counties. We also operate as a land trust and nature conservancy whose mission is to preserve wild and agricultural open spaces, to protect the natural habitat for indigenous wildlife and to monitor the water quality of rivers and streams. The interest from endowed funds is used to support a variety of projects ranging from the upkeep of playgrounds and landscaping of the park to development of new programs and projects. Endowments are the park's "grow slow, steady as she goes" funds and they are crucial. The create perennity. Please consider providing an endowment, no matter how modest, to support the park. And now in the serenity and quiet of this lovely place, touch the depths of truth, feel the hem of Heaven. You will go away with old, good friends. And don't forget when you leave why you came." ~ Adlai E. Stevenson |
